Only problem I foresee there is that they play the same position. I really hope Vern becomes the "player to be named later" in a deal to a team who needs a first baseman, or an AL team. He deserves it and had a great season for us. I think Carpenter has the potential to make it to the bigs too. The guy works hard and showed great leadership all year.
