It's time to sign up for this year's bracket challenge. We had 330 entries last year with 1st place taking home over $2,000. I'm upping the entry this year to $20. CBS Sports will only allow 400 entries, so we might as well play for more $. You can still submit up to 3 brackets in the tournament pool.

Payouts:
1st - 70%
2nd - 20%
3rd - 10%

Scoring:
First Round - 1pt + seed
Second Round - 2pts + seed
Sweet 16 - 4pts + seed
Elite 8 - 8pts + seed

TCU-LSU National TV Season Opener Time Set

The TCU-LSU game time has now been set for the Labor Day weekend FBS season opener. The Cowboys Classic will be at 8:00pm CDT August 31st at Cowboy Stadium and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.  This will be the 9th meeting overall for the two teams, with LSU holding a 5-2-1 edge in the series. However, it was LSU that TCU defeated in the 1936 Sugar Bowl for the National Championship that year, and the series between the schools began with the Frogs beating LSU 3-0 in 1931. This is also the second appearance of TCU in the Cowboys Classic, the first one resulting in a 30-21 TCU victory over Oregon State in 2010, when it was not the season opener telecast.
The national broadcast of this matchup between the Frogs and LSU shows how far TCU has come on the national stage. Many pundits who make early  predictions are calling this one as being fairly close but TCU's to lose, and some of those same pundits are saying that this could be TCU's year to not only win the Big 12, but if the stars align and the blood gets spit in the right direction to make a run for the National Title.
While it is admittedly early days yet, it looks more and more like the Killer Frogs are back! Just wait until the season gets closer - white, black and purple will not just be TCU's colors, but black and purple will also be the colors of many of the Frogs' opponents once TCU and GMFP are done with them.

Now if we can just avoid last Spring's shenanigans.....

Dalton Foundation Event Monday

While admittedly we have been lethargic over here at Spitblood the past few months, that doesn't mean we don't take advantage of an opportunity to help out great charities like the Andy & Jordan Dalton Foundation.  They will be hosting an event in Fort Worth on Monday April 4th and would love as many of you to come as possible and help raise some money.  Here are the event details:

Former TCU and current NFL Quarterback Andy Dalton of the Cincinnati Bengals is “steaking out” at Ft. Worth Texas de Brazil on Monday, March 4th located at 101 N. Houston Street. Texas Christian University all-time wins leader will host a Steak-Out at the Brazilian Churrascaria, with proceeds benefiting his charity, the Andy & Jordan Dalton Foundation.

Guests will mingle with Dalton as they enjoy Caipirinha, Brazil’s national cocktail, and dine on passed hors d’oeuvres featuring sizzling meats from the restaurant’s menu including garlic marinated sirloin, chicken breast wrapped in bacon and Brazilian sausage.

TCU memorabilia will be available for purchase, with Dalton on hand to sign autographs. All proceeds from the live and silent auction of this event will go to the Andy & Jordan Dalton Foundation and their efforts in Ft. Worth.  Their foundation betters the lives of youth by providing seriously ill and physically challenged children throughout Ft. Worth & Greater Cincinnati with daily support and life changing experiences.

The event starts at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 4th.  VIP Tickets are available for $150 per person which includes an NFL signature series football. Guests are not allowed to bring in outside memorabilia, so the football is a significant added value. Tickets are $100 per person for general admission which includes drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
