If this comes to pass- and it certainly looks like it will- it would leave the Big East with just seven football-playing members for next year. There is a possibility that the league could get one of its confirmed future members (SMU, Houston, Central Florida, Memphis, or Navy) to bolt from their current conference immediately to fill the gap. Then again, you may see Big East teams getting very creative with their 2012 schedules, such as the suggest concept of Rutgers and Syracuse playing each other twice next year.
Sounds pretty weird, doesn't it? But not my chair, not my problem...right?
