Meet the Future Frogs: Chad Childs

Since it began forming about this time last year, TCU's 2012 recruiting class has been shaping up as one of the school's finest ever. One key area was lacking for a while, though- through the first 14 commitments in the class, not one of them was an offensive linemen. That changed on December 8th, however, when the Frogs received a commitment from La Grange offensive tackle Chad Childs.

At 6'5" 280lbs, Childs is certainly already big enough for the college game. But he's also quite a versatile athlete, having played both ways during his entire four years starting on La Grange's varsity. He was a tight end for the first two years, and still runs a 4.9 forty. As a senior this past fall, he was named 3A All-State by

Rivals gave Childs three stars, but they also don't have a highlight tape for him so I'm not sure how they evaluated him. He was offered a scholarship by a number of schools- including Texas Tech, Missouri and Oregon State. But following in the footsteps of other Leopards-turned-Horned Frogs Tye Gunn and Maurice Bouldwin proved to be too much to turn down.
