TCU Baseball Alumni Report

In addition to the news that Jake Arrieta has been named the Orioles' opening day starter, here are a few more updates on former Horned Frog baseball players:

-Scott Atchison has had a good spring, but the decision on whether or not he'll make the big league roster for the Red Sox appears to be coming down to the last minute.

-Bryan Holaday was not on the roster for the Eerie Tigers (the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers) when it was announced. This is leading to speculation by Tigers writers that Holaday may be starting the year at Triple-A Toledo.

-Matt Curry is looking forward to his second year at Double-A Altoona in the Pirates' organization after having taken the rare step of skipping Advance A-Ball all together.

-Kyle Winkler will start the season at Visalia, the Diamondbacks' Advance A-ball affiliate.

-Matt Purke, instead of Advanced A as was speculated recently, will be heading to extended spring training by the Nationals.

-Erik Miller will be starting the season at Class A Dayton in the Reds' organization.
