I should begin by saying I've been out of town since Wednesday morning, so the majority of the coverage I've read has come from twitter and message boards, with a smattering of S-T articles thrown in, so I hadn't gotten a chance to see the local media coverage until last night. I'd been warned ahead of time that it was pretty sensationalized, but I wasn't at all prepared for what NBC5 and the lovely Meredith Land had to offer last night. If last night's newscast was the only thing I knew about the entire thing, I'd have been convinced that Boschini resigned his post as Chancellor and turned control of the school over to the fucking Barksdale crew the way they ripped the school apart. Have they read the arrest warrants? Almost all of them were arrested for selling a quarter ounce of weed. A QUARTER OUNCE!!! Your best friends in college smoked that amount in a week. You know who the kids that sell that amount of of marijuana are? The ones who love the stuff and want to sell enough to smoke for free. That's it. This isn't some incredibly intricate organized crime ring, it's a bunch of kids who like marijuana as much as the average college student.

Of the 18 suspects identified, six were selling more than weed, none of them members of the football team. But the way the media is painting it, Gary Patterson has been recruiting the damned Zeta cartel onto his sidelines. It's fucking LUDICROUS. I'm not saying the four culprits shouldn't have been kicked off the team because when you run a program as clean as Patterson has you need to WEED out the bad elements. If those guys were brazenly moronic enough to sell to undercover officers in a drug free zone and openly talk about failing drug tests, then chances are they probably couldn't have been counted on in the future. But the public spectacle that has been made of it is borderline criminal. "IF YOU WERE A PARENT, WOULD YOU SEND YOUR KID TO TCU?!??" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? Dear parents, if your entire basis on where to send your college is based on whether or not there is drug use on campus, then they should probably go ahead and apply for an entry level position that requires no degree.

As for the FWPD, I'm sure you all saw the latest, but the boys in blue actually managed to MISIDENTIFY A SUSPECT THAT THEY HAD MET WITH ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS!! Stunning. And the best/worst part about it? You bet your ass some of these kids are going to get off scott free because of that bungling by the Mayberry Police Department. Do you realize how horny that one mistake made every defense attorney in the greater Metroplex area? They LIVE for those kinds of mistakes. A couple of those kids have multiple felony charges and are probably screwed, but in some cases - especially those involving the suspects I presume come from wealthy backgrounds with the wherewithal to battle the charges - the juries are going to be convinced that the investigation was inept and the officer's word can't be trusted. Which means this will all have been an entirely useless endeavor by a bunch of over zealous administrators. A six month investigation could very easily unravel entirely because of a brain fart. Which is absolutely perfect, except for the part where it completely fucked over an entire University.

End the drug war. Ron P for Prez.

I love that only 5/91 failed the test. Definitely extra motivation for the hard workers and honest kids on the team. Have a feeling like we are gonna play so pissed off that we may kill an opposing player during a game. And im writing in Ron Paul if he loses the nomination fuck the rest of them they are all the same.

I suggest everyone read Bud Kennedy's article. He is one of the few true journalists at the FWST and is not out to make a name for himself.

Bud seems to be the only journalist that has made any sense over this. Media blows.
