Merry Football Christmas

Fax machines all over the country are working overtime today as letters of intent roll in from high schools to colleges from coast to coast. It's National Signing Day for football, when every college football fan gets to see who will officially be joining their favorite program for the next 4-5 years. The Frogs have certainly had a busy final week, and have had FOUR players commit to them in the final 24 hours. They are:

Jordan Moore: 6'3" 210lb safety from Lithonia, Georgia

-Even the TCU recruiting experts thought Moore to be a longshot to sign with the Frogs. He's big, fast, and hits like a locomotive. That's why he had offers from schools like Ohio State, USC, Florida, Penn State, Michigan State, and on and on. Last night, he picked TCU over Auburn live on TV in Georgia during the post game of the Hawks-Raptors game on FSN. Check out his highlight video HERE.

Aviante Collins: 6'6" 310lb offensive tackle from Fort Bend Willowridge (Houston area)

-There was a time when TCU offensive linemen weren't as big as Collins is when they were 5th-year seniors. He's definitely got the size to play in the college game (and beyond), and has been called one of the most underrated recruits in the state by some recruiting services. He was committed to Houston until earlier this week, but ultimately decided to come to TCU- where his Dad was a track star. Check out his highlights HERE.

Derrick Kindred: 5'10" 185lb defensive back/running back from San Antonio Wagner

-This is prototypical TCU recruiting. Kindred is the only two-star (according to Rivals) recruit in the class, and was not even on the radar of most people who follow Frogs' recruiting until he committed yesterday. In my experience, these are sometimes the kids who end up shining most brightly once they put on the purple & white (Tank Carder, anyone?)- so keep your eye on Kindred. He played both linebacker and running back for the Thunderbirds, rushing for over 1,600 yards this fall. Check out his highlights HERE.

Terrell Lathan: 6'5" 260lb defensive end from West Monroe, Louisiana

-This one is a pure Signing Day surprise. Lathan committed to Louisiana Tech just days ago, but has (according to the twitterverse) signed his LOI with TCU this morning. He joins West Monroe teammate James McFarland in this year's class, giving the Horned Frogs THREE defensive linemen from the same high school- you'll remember that Chuck Hunter also came to Fort Worth from West Monroe. He also had offers from Arkansas and Mississippi State. I couldn't find a highlight tape of him, sorry.

These four guys join the following guys that we expect to officially sign with the Frogs today:

-LaDarius Anthony: 6'0" 190lb RB from Kilgore
-Austin Aune: 6'2" 185lb QB from Argyle
-Gerren Ballard: 6'5" 250lb TE from Whitewright
-BJ Catalon: 5'8" 190lb RB from Houston Westside*
-Chad Childs: 6'5" 280lb OL from La Grange
-Ricky Collins: 6'0" 185lb WR from Kilgore JC
-Keivon Gamble: 5'10" 190lb CB from Trinity Valley CC*
-Griffin Gilbert: 6'5" 215lb TE from Austin Lake Travis
-Deante' Gray: 5'10" 180lb WR from Houston Westside
-AJ Hilliard: 6'2" 215lb LB from Klein Oak
-Joey Hunt: 6'2" 285lb DT from El Campo
-Zach Jackson: 6'0" 185lb S from Snellville, Georgia
-Kolby Listenbee: 6'0" 170lb athlete from Arlington Bowie*
-Devonte Fields: 6'4" 240lb DE from Arlington Martin
-Tyler Matthews: 6'3" 215lb QB from McPherson, Kansas*
-James McFarland: 6'3" 240lb DE from West Monroe, Louisiana
-Jaden Oberkrom: 6'3" 170lb K from Arlington Martin
-Ethan Perry: 6'4" 220lb P from Smithson Valley
-Halapoulivaati Vaitai: 6'6" 265lb OL from Haltom City

*- these guys are already enrolled at TCU and will be part of spring practice.

They also apparently have signed Josh Carraway, a DE from Flower Mound Marcus. Word is that he'll greyshirt.

At this point, I'll tease my upcoming post about greyshirts and preferred walk-ons for this class. Coming this afternoon.

I know it's easy to get carried away with excitement -- remember the joy at the Ethan Grant signing? -- but there is no question this is an AMAZING class.

Every position has a top-notch recruit! EVERY POSITION!
