Cut Off The Head Of The Horned Frog Logo?

First of all, holy shit.  84 comments and counting on the new logo thread.  I mean I knew what you wore at TCU was pretty important, but holy spaghetti batman.  We've got commentors coming out of the woodwork that I never knew existed to profess their hatred for this proposed logo (I'm one of them).  But I've personally come to the conclusion that it's not what you wear, it's how you wear it, so I'll be fine with whatever in the long run.

Fellow reader (The Showstopper) made a point in the comments on how the proposed logo might look better with just the head. I was having trouble imagining it, so I used my limited art skills to crop it down and see what it would look like.

After doing this I at least feel like this could grow on me, more than the fully body tumor tail/3rd leg.  I do think the purple would need to be thinned out a bit, but I at least felt that this frog was a little more fierce.

Also in the process I just put the horned frog outline against a purple background to see what it would look like.  Turned out looking more like a psychologist's inkblot card.  Maybe we could really get inside the other team's head with this one?

And beware, once you see this old long-nosed bearded man he can never be unseen.  Your welcome.

I'm also still holding out hope that this is just a proposed logo. Perhaps Nike "leaked" it to see what kind of response it would get.

I don't care if we like it. I care if the talented young go hards like it. Thats what the young go hards be wearing. It's all about the go hards.

The new logo is not finalized, right? Just something that got out on the internet. Hopefully they will see that it could use some changes.

I think it'd be a lot cooler if the Frog were wearing shades. Man, what a cool logo that would be!

Boyce, I care if we like it because we are the ones paying tuition, making donations, buying tickets, buying drinks and food. Just like when the Rose Bowl unis first came out, there was NO purple in them whatsoever. The school listened and they wore their best looking uniforms.

I have to admit, I have tried to like and just don't. The head only is ok, but the full logo is just plain bad.

TCU needs to protect its brand and not go with something that doesn't look so weird.

After giving it a day to sink in, the new frog has grown on me a bit. I'd still prefer to stick with the current one, but only because I don't like that they change the logo every 15 years. It's impossible to find the iconic brand they're looking for if you keep changing it.

That was what was on the stadium seats when I was a freshman -- an outdated logo from the '50s, thus nearly 30 years past its usefulness.

The flying T? Fun, but very '80s and very Jim Wacker -- loveable, but long past its glory days.

I like our current frog, like the black football pants, like that TCU is trying to become a brand ... like that it actualy MATTERS to people.

Like it or not, good and bad, TCU has never had as much media exposure as it is enjoying over the last couple of years. If Nike wants to spend money "updating" TCU, I say go fer it, dude! These are heady times, Frog fans (drug scandal notwithstanding) ... enjoy the ride baby, cuz it won't last forever.

I could live with it as just the head. It's really the body that makes it look like a complete turd.

Anyone know when we're supposed to hear back about requested season ticket groupings?

I appreciate you looking at it from my POV. You actually cut it down even further than I did and it looks even better.
