TCU's Place in the Final Polls

With the college football season over, the pollsters did not waste any time in getting their final rankings out. If you were hoping for a split national championship, Nick Saban and his sociopathic defense put that idea to rest last night. TCU, riding an eight game win streak that saw them capture their third consecutive Mountain West championship and their third overall Poinsettia Bowl championship, end the year ranked #14 in the AP poll and #13 in the Coaches' Poll.

I want to see a comparison of the breakdown of coaches votes from pre bowl to post bowl. Would be interesting if some of the coaches votes mysteriously changed.... cough cough Les Miles after the bowls were seated.

It's not like we had a convincing Bowl win to jump us up. Obviously some losers in front of us would fall a little.

Do they release the coaches votes after the season?

This may be the only time in history when TCU finished exactly where it was ranked before the season started.

Good finish for the Frogs!
That was the worst game ever to watch last night. I think LSU attempted one pass over 5 yards down the field...I know Bama's D is good, but if all you are going to do is run the ball and throw screens and 3 yard dink and dumps, anyone can put 11 guys at the line of scrimmage and stop that, TCU would have beat LSU last night...got to be some of the worst coaching on LSU's part that I have ever seen.

I am looking forward to seeing what idiot voted LSU # 1, and what 4 idiots voted OSU #1.

They should have their voting rights taken away.

LSU #1 - Les Miles
OSE #1 - Van Gundy

Holy Overreaction, Batman.

It was fairly anti-climactic, and Jordan Jefferson sucks...but I enjoyed watching two teams that actually know how to tackle. The Alabama front 7 was pretty beastly.

I stand by my statement...WORST GAME EVER

I loved watching Bama play the option and screen game on D. They absolutely FLEW to the ball and shut it down. They were willing to give Jefferson 1-2 yards on the option because they would just play the line of scrimmage and let him come to them. Unfortunately for Jefferson he's an idiot and would pitch it to the RB every time so that HE could get tackled for a loss of 3 by 4 Alabama players.

As a secondary LSU fan you have to give props to Saban having his D ready. Mediocre athletes are fun to watch with good coaching. Extremely physical and talented athletes with good coaching is something else, and that's what I saw last night.

1 penalty all game and they were flying to the ball all game and busting anyones chops who touched the ball. Just saying that as a fan of great Defense it was fun to watch.

Best joke I heard this morning was with regards to the half time contest.

"Guy missed 5 field goals and still got a car... typical SEC game"

The best defense is a bad offense

Props to AJ McCarron for playing a pretty damn good game against the best secondary in the country without his leading receiver. Would've had a TD pass had that post not been dropped too. Looked like a different QB than last game.

RA- they were the best defense all year long in basically every major defensive statistic. I'd say it was more than a bad offense that made them look good. Might be the best defense I've ever seen in college. Lots of first rounders on that defense and they are incredibly well coached.

That may be true, but LSU still has a bad offense.

Lyle Lanley you hit the nail on the head

Man they were always flying to the ball. I agree game was pretty boring, but both teams can play big D!

Not bad for a rebuilding season. I can not wait for next year. Coach Gary is a genius. Don't let him go!

alabama's d is no doubt good. but lsu made them look legendary by the, bar none, WORST play calling I have seen in my life. McDurt said it. If you need 7 yards on 3rd down and you throw a short pass to a receiver (who didn't catch half of them) at the line of scrimmage, you won't get very far. so what do they do? keep running that, and the option. which never. worked. ever.

like i said, great D obviously by alabama, but holy crap. i would have fired that OC and made him find his own way home.

Jordan Jefferson often looked like he was completely unfamiliar with the option. It was amazing. However, as I believe Cam Newton enthusiast and sly LSU homer Vikingfrog pointed out in an earlier post, LSU ran the effing score up on just about everyone not named Alabama this season... so surely that has a LITTLE something to do with their ineptitude. They ran the plays that worked for them 11/12 times this season... Bama was just that good.
