Meet the Future Frogs: Joey Hunt

The very first player to commit to being part of TCU's Recruiting Class of 2012 was Joey Hunt, a 6'3" 285lb defensive tackle from down in El Campo. He gave Coach Patterson his pledge on January 30th of last year, even before the 2011 class had put ink to paper on their own letters of intent.

Before last season started, Dave Campbell's Texas Football named Hunt one of the Top 30 defensive linemen in the state, as well as the preseason Defensive MVP for District 23-4A. He didn't disappoint, racking up 21 tackles for loss in the Ricebirds' ten ballgames. During that time, he picked up scholarship offers from Texas Tech, Stanford, Rice, Houston and others- but stuck to his word of wanting to become a Horned Frog.

I've heard some talk that Hunt may be looked at on the other side of the ball, assumably as a guard- but he looks like a D-tackle to me. Judge for yourself:

I've never been more excited about a recruiting class. They ALL look good . Usually, there are four or five fill-ins. Not this time. They all look like they will contribute if they sign.

Hopefully, they all sign.

You're right, Ed.

But then again, a few of those supposed fill-ins ended up being some of the best players!
