Meet the Future Frogs: James McFarland

The second of the two future Horned Frogs to give TCU their verbal commitment this weekend was actually a re-commitment. James McFarland, a high school teammate of Chucky Hunter's from West Monroe, Louisiana, had actually committed to TCU last spring. But he eventually backed off of it, opening his recruiting process back up and taking a hard look at Arkansas and Boise State before confirming his initial decision this weekend.

At 6'3" 240lbs and with a 4.6 forty time, McFarland looks like either a linebacker or a defensive end at the next level. He's certainly bigger than most of the linebackers that TCU has had in the past decade, but many people think a few extra lbs on the Frogs' LBs might not be such a bad thing once Big 12 play starts this fall. I'm just some blogger- but when I watch his video, I see a defensive end.

Rivals has McFarland as a three-star linebacker, ranking him as the 36th-best outside linebacker recruit in the nation and the 16th-best overall recruit coming out of Louisiana. He doesn't have a free highlight tape on youtube, at least that I can find- so those of you that are too cheap for a subscription to purplemenace will just have to trust me on this one.

McFarland and Fields at the two DE spots 3-4 years from now? Prepare to pick up broken little pieces of Sooner and Longhorn quarterback off the ACG turf.

Daje Johnson just tweeted that he has chosen TCU over Texas. Suck it horns. I hope your reign of mediocrity continues for decades to come.

Don't get carried away on Daje. I have a feeling his Tweet was a ploy to make UT roll out the red carpet. Word is he is still visiting UT this weekend. If CGP can lock him down during the in-home visit on Thursday and convince him not to visit UT then I will celebrate.
