Frogs fall to New Mexico, await NCAA's judgement

Last night's action at the MWC Baseball Tournament showed why you need to avoid falling into the loser's bracket. The Frogs, after eliminating Utah 14-1 earlier in the evening, simply ran out of gas in a 4-2 loss to New Mexico late last night. As we've done throughout this tournament, we'll outsource the analysis to hornedfrogsports.com.

I guess congratulations are in order for the Lobos, who unpredictably now find themselves with a ticket punched to the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 20-39. Baylor QB Robert Griffin might call their run to the MWC Tournament title a fluke, but I think whatever #1 seed plays them in the opening game next weekend better be ready for a fight.

As for the Frogs, you have to wonder if their losses in San Diego will cost them the chance to host an NCAA Regional next weekend. Their RPI, according to Boyd's World, has dropped to #19. Aaron Fitt, the main college baseball writer for Baseball America, said through his twitter feed that he still thinks TCU will be chosen to host. We'll let you know when we hear anything on the matter.
