So much for that optimism...

Unfortunately we aren't going to be seeing Purke's patented fist pump for a while. This afternoon during the Frogs' pregame show Coach Schlossnagle said the star lefty is out indefinitely. He didn't elaborate so that's all I've got. Well that and, (insert long stream of incoherent expletives).

Hopefully we can get a win tonight and on the bright side we still have two starters that are more than capable of ensuring that we win any 3 game series. In case you want to watch tonight's game it should be broadcast here.

Where Playoff Trash Talk Happens

It's that time of year again, when your best friends become your worst enemies as your blood pressure and BAC rise with every promo for "The Closer" that TNT runs. The NBA Playoffs started over the weekend, and I know you've all got some unresolved issues that you need to vent by talking shit about someone else's favorite team. And that's great, because we've got a place set aside for you- the NBA Smack-Down Forum in Section V.

So come on, Spurs fans- let us know how un-worried you are even after losing Game 1 down south of the border*. And Mavs fans, you've got a pretty big Game 2 tonight against the Blazers- can Dirk come up big again to grab a 2-0 lead? I knew too many Louisiana kids when I was at TCU and a few Memphricans, so I'm sure we've got some Hornets and Grizz fans here too, don't we?

I hope you Rockets fans out there won't get bored. We've got some turpentine for you to continue trying to erase the asterisks from your two '90s championships. But they aren't coming off...

TCU @ Texas A&M preview

While this 2011 TCU baseball team may have failed to live up to the lofty expectations so far this year, Baseball America has not lost faith in them- putting the Frogs at #11 in their latest Top 25 poll. But as I mentioned yesterday, with an RPI of #37, TCU needs a hot finish to the season- especially in their remaining games against elite teams- to ensure an NCAA Tournament seeding that will give them a shot of advancing. That starts tonight when the Frogs invade Texas A&M's Olsen Field to take on the #6 Aggies.

Andrew Mitchell, the superb freshman who temporarily took over Erik Miller's role as closer, is moving back to the starting rotation this week and will take the mound against A&M. In 15 appearances (and 3 starts) this year, Mitchell has a team-leading 1.24 ERA and is allowing opposing batters to hit just .164 against him. For the Aggies, it'll be Brandon Parrent, a 6'2" sophomore from Flower Mound that'll be making his third start of the year. In his 14 total appearances, Parrent has an opponents' batting average of .267 and carries an ERA of 3.55. I'm a bit confused because gofrogs' preview of the game lists him as a right-hander, while aggieathletics.com says he's a lefty.

TCU will be looking to win their second consecutive game over A&M, but will be going for their first win in College Station since 1994. If you're looking to talk shit to Aggie fans, check out the baseball forum at texags.com. While you're at it, check out the football forum and marvel at the delusion.
