After snapping a four-game losing skid with a win against Wyoming and departing ways with swingman Sammy Yeager, the Frogs hit the road for two tough conference games- starting tonight in Fort Collins against Colorado State.
At 11-5 and an RPI rank of 67 (compared to 143 for TCU), CSU is the surprise team of the Mountain West so far this year. They're led by 6'7" Travis Franklin and 6'9" Andy Ogide, both senior forwards. Having quality big men is a recipe for success against TCU, as Mac Engel of the Star-Telegram pointed out earlier this week.
It should also be noted that Rams' coach Tim Miles, in his fourth year at CSU, has an overall win percentage lower than that of TCU's Jim Christian, who is in his third year in Fort Worth. With the Rams looking like they're headed toward the postseason this year, perhaps a level of patience higher than I myself showed earlier this week should be given to Christian.
Tipoff tonight in Fort Collins is at 8:00pm and can be seen on The Mtn or heard on WBAP & KTCU.
