Craig Thompson's shorts might match Wyoming's jerseys

AP Source: Big East, Boise must be persuaded

Now, to be sure, this is maybe a step above the rumor mill, but if this is true and Boise State is even CONSIDERING moving to the Big East, you gotta figure their membership in the MWC is going to be a short marriage.
And if Boise State bolts, I think I'll send Commissioner Thompson a very nice letter to express my joy in watching his favorite knob walk out and leave him curled up in a ball crying... the same way BSU left the WAC.
Guess it's good that you got as many BSU home games as possible this year, cuz the blue turf may not be around to keep the MWC alive much longer.

But I'm not bitter or anything.

what a bunch of bullshit they pulled getting our game moved to boise, for no reason whatsoever. i imagine the meeting like this...

Boise: So how is the schedule going to work?
Thompson: Well you'll just take Utah's spot.
Boise: Oh ok cool. That will be fine. I guess...
T: You...well do you need something else.
B: Yeah I was just thinking...
T: OH OF COURSE move TCU's game to IDAHO. Yeah we broke up already so I don't mind asking them.
B: Oh wow, thanks so much, I just feel like we're traveling a lot anyways. I'm so glad we're on the same page.
T: I know it just isn't really fair to you. I don't mind at ALL, I'll call a meeting right now.

..................................

T: So...you wanna go out some time?
B: I don't really think of you in that way.

Been cruising Blue-Turf... Hard to tell whether more people are for it or against it. Did hear a lot about the whole "traveling" thing... folks bitching about how much they'd have to travel. They also figure the BE needs BSU more than BSU needs them (at this point, I think it's a wash) and maybe they can get 9 home games a year or a travel bonus.
I'd be willing to bet if Air Force goes Big East, so will BSU. Some conference's existence (WAC, MWC, CUSA, Big East) is going to cease in the next couple of years, probably from a merger.

I can only say that this gives me tired head. I am so glad TCU does not have to care about this for another five years.

I just hope the defense pulls it together enough to give Boise a loss. It would be a great final gesture to Thompson after seeing him go out of his way to make our exit messy.

At this point, beating Boise amd taking the Conference title is about the only thing worth playing for. Sure, we'll be eligible for some crap ass bowl game that nobody except the teams playing cares about and based on the stuff I've read, we'll probably end up losing money on the deal, but BFD.

yea if we finish 9-3, and get to play a pac-10 team in Vegas i cant imagine anyone that would care... are u serious? thats busch league rotten

Okay, either we run the table including beating Boise and we're most likely in the Maaco Vegas Bowl against one of the Washington teams (possibly UCLA or USC).
OR we beat everybody else, lose to Boise, and most likely end up in the Maaco Vegas Bowl against one of the Washington teams (possibly UCLA or USC).
Then of course we could end up losing more than 1 game and finish third and end up in the Poinsettia playing Hawaii. Not likely, sure, but... bleah.

Even if we do make the MAACO... I was looking at the contract for last year's game... Boise had to buy 10,000 tickets at about $62 a piece. They sold about 7500 which means they ate approximately $150,000. And check out Article IV in the contract... basically Boise was REQUIRED to get first class hotel resort for their entire entourage (minimum 150 rooms) for 6 nights that Boise had to pay for. And who knows how many other things they required BSU to cover. How much of that $1 million payout did Boise actually keep as profit?

I guess the players get a big kick out of it, and that's great for them, but when you get right down to it... is it REALLY that big of a deal to play some middle of the road PAC team that our school basically has to pay for? This might've been cool 2 or three years ago, but we're beyond that. We've mad it to a point that playing a UCLA or Washington State team that nobody is going to remember is not really a step up.

Forgive me for not being particularly excited about our Bowl prospects, but with the Rose Bowl in the trophy case and things like the Cotton Bowl to look forward to, I just can't care about what amounts to a scam that is designed to try and pacify the non-AQs.

Your secsond point is well laid out, and you make good points. I feel the same way and I seem to recall a certain bowl committee in Las Vegas that didn't want TCU a few years ago. I have an elephant's memeory and frankly, I don't gamble(not even the markets anymore)so Sin City has litte appeal for me and my wife, especially bringing three young children. On the other hand, San Diego puts on a good bowl and the city is great! Plus, TCU plays well in Qualcom Stadium.

Get the dang Rose Bowl out of your head and be thankful if TCU gets into the Vegas Bowl.

Vegas is a great site for a holiday getaway (yes, for kids), and hopefully the Frogs kick some Pac-8-10-12 butt.

Does it really matter what the payout is or that the school needs to sell X amount of tickets? Let the admin worry about that crap. Just be happy that the galleryfurniture.com Bowl is dead.

I want the Frogs to play an ACC team in Shreveport.

Someone tell EdK the days of pining over the Vegas Bowl are over.

EdK said...

Seriously, snk, you are a retard. I thought spitblood had some interesting opinions, but it seems that you guys have all drunk too much from the Rose-colored bowl.

TCU is in the MWC now. The Las Vegas Bowl trip goes to the winner of that conference (or the runnerup if the winner is in a BCS game). That's the way it freaking is.

So, the Frogs lose all of two games and you fair-weather fans are now finished with this season and "pining away" for the damn Big 12. Fine.

For a group that looks for every bit of info on TCU football, you sure don't seem like you really care that much about it. Oh, I forgot, it's all about you.

shortnkerley's said...

Fair weather? Ok. All I was saying is that playing in the Vegas bowl isn't what we should be aspiring for anymore, and after this season we will probably never be there again. Good lord, you sure are bitter about something. Is life that bad?

EdK said...

I am bitter snk when someone mocks my opinion instead of giving all the readers something to think about. You've personalized my comments before.

Yes, TCU should aspire for more than the Las Vegas Bowl. But THIS YEAR TCU is going to the Las Vegas Bowl. Deal with it.

Sir Wesley Willis said...

hahahaaha WE'RE fair weather fans, EdK? YOU'RE the guy who doesn't want TCU to go to the Big 12 because you think we're going to lose all of our games. That makes it pretty clear you don't like your college football fandom with a side of adversity.

EdK said...

sww, I never said that. I said that I wished it had turned out differently because I hate the Big 12. And, yes, I prefer TCU winning 11 or 12 games a year than winning fewer than they have enjoyed.

Perhaps fair-weather was a bit off the mark, but my impression has been that everyone here is conceding the inevitable this year -- losing to BSU, the Vegas Bowl -- as if this is some disaster and going to the Big 12 is all we have to keep us warm in our beds at night.

Enjoy the next seven games this season.

This site had articles with midseason roundups of the offense and defense. There were only a few comments. Talk about the Big 12 and everyone chimes in. You want to talk football, then talk football.

Forgive us for being excited about moving up in the CFB world. We aren't robots.

Yeah, we are totally fair weather and have completely mailed it in on this site for the rest of the year. What gave it away? The lack of TCU football related content or the "fuck TCU football" attitude we've startedto portray lately? Give me a break.
