Highlights: Beating the Mormons

Well, the good news:

We beat BYU. Again.

Jonathan Anderson is as big a stud as they said he was. Take your time getting well, Tekerrein.

I've never been a big Matthew Tucker fan ... but man he is really putting it together this year. All three backs have run as well as any backfield TCU has had since that No. 5 guy carried the ball.

The bad news:

Overall, it was a pretty shoddy performance. Offensively, it was the worst game of the year for Pachall and Boyce. BYU could very easily have won that game.

And, worst still, I'm doing another 180 on my Boise State prediction. There is no way that secondary will be able to stop Moore. None. Zero. The pass rush is good, but Fobbs, McCoy and Verrett (and Cuba too) give way too much cushion for receivers. It is going to be ugly.

Hopefully, by game time, TCU will be ranked about 24 or 25. Then ... poof!

Boyce's worst game? He had a touchdown. I'd say the UNM game where he had 1 catch for 24 yards was a little worse.

snk, did you even watch the game? He dropped three first-down catches. The UNM game was over before halftime; he wasn't needed. Those drops could have cost the Frogs the game.

Yeah I watched. I tend to watch tcu games from time to time. Weird, isn't it? He had some drops, a couple in some tough man to man traffic, but he had another 50 yards and a td. Doesn't take a genius to figure out that's better than a 1 catch game where he wasn't used.

A little bit ugly. Not as ugly as everyone claims.

As of right now a W is a W in my book. Not looking for any style points to jump in the coaches poll or anything like that. I'm just looking to win, and win is what we did.

Going up 14-0 quickly on BYU took the wind out of their sails early and by the time they tried to fight back it was too little too late.

Also that 2 pt conversion was obviously down before he got in the endzone. I don't know how much more obvious it can get. I thought they weren't going to review it, but then they did and I was sitting there 100% sure that call would have been reversed. Alas, it was good. Makes no sense. Oh well, didn't affect the W. Might have affected Vegas.

To me the lack of a 4-man pass rush is the biggest issue on defense. When we sent 4 guys it seemed like Nelson had all day to throw.
