Sunday Night Leftovers: 9/11/11

On Monday, the TCU Men's Golf Team finished up the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate. As a team, the Frogs finished 2nd overall (even), behind only Baylor (-11). Individually though, the Frogs took 1st AND 2nd. Freshman Julien Brun (-8) took first and Junior Daniel Jennevret (-6) were runner up.

Speaking of Jennevret, what is up with his hair?

TCU Volleyball

The VolleyFrogs are off to their best start ever (okay, they've MATCHED their best start ever) after sweeping the competition this weekend. On Friday, the Frogs started off the Villanova Classic against Loyola and won 3-2. It was the first time in 7 matches this season the Frogs actually had to go to 5 sets. On Saturday, it was 3-1 over Colgate (insert toothpaste joke here) and capped off the tourney with another 3-1 win over host Villanova. On Tuesday, the team takes on Baylor at home and a win will give them a record best, perfect 10-0 start.

TCU Soccer

The Lady Frogs traveled to scenic Lubbock for the Red Raider Classic (whatever the hell that is). Friday night, they took on Toledo and won 1-0. Then on Sunday it was Hofstra (a school that, when I was a kid, I believed to be a made up place thanks to a Bill Cosby routine). The Frogs also dispatched The Pride (yes, The Hofstra Pride... not Lions, a whole frickin' PRIDE) 1-0. Senior Jordan Calhoun scored both goals this weekend, extending her all-time TCU scoring record to 31 career goals. By going undefeated, TCU was named the Champion of the 4 team tourney (Tech being the other team) and took Offensive (Calhoun), Defensive (Katie Taylor), and Goalkeeping (Alicen Wright) MVPs.

TCU Cross Country

Saturday, the Men's and Women's Cross Country teams ran in the UT-Arlington Season Opener. The Women finished strong and took second place (behind SMU and ahead of Baylor, UTA, and Northwood). The Men took third, which doesn't sound too bad except there were only 4 teams. The Waco Bear Cult took first, followed by UTA. But at least the Frogs finished ahead of whatever Arlington Baptist is.
