Another Domino Falling?

It may be another nail in the coffin of the Big 12, but would it be good news for TCU? The Kansas City Star is reporting that there is an offer on the table for Missouri to join the SEC. Best of luck to the Tigers if this indeed true (although it's attributed to "a Mizzou booster who spoke directly to a MU official", so take that for what it's worth), but it sure does take a little bit of the luster off of a potential merger of Big 12 and Big East leftovers.

You know, it occurs to me that the more schools that get shut out of the "big time" they are just creating more and more people who won't give a rat's ass about the games. If your school has no chance to be in any sort of National Championship talk, do you have any interest in watching the teams that do?

Unfortunately, for a lot of people:

My school's team doesn't play in a major conference = My team is actually some other school that does.

F...so that means the SEC ain't talking to us *facepalm*

SEC hopes were always a joke, but yeah, it was fun to dream there for a while.

But still, if your info is coming multiple times removed from the actual source, who knows? If we went by that logic, then we're all but guaranteed a spot in every conference based on what "those in the know" on message boards say.

I hope all the conferences plan to go to 16 and someone throws a wrench in it by going to 18 or 20. I don't know why I would find that funny, but I would.

Why stop at 16?

Foil hat-wearing conspiracy theory:

Missouri admins/boosters, having always wanted to be part of the Big Ten, are claiming an SEC offer in an attempt to make the Big Ten jealous. This may be out of desperation.

Basically we are stuck in the Big East Titanic irrespective of whether it ends up mopping the floor of the Atlantic or whether it sails on to fight another few years...cause I haven't even heard of a TCU rumor @ ACC, SEC, Big 10, PAC or any place other than detined to be mediocre for life MW and damn near a sunk ship Big East

There's a long way to go before the rumors all hit the fan. Relax. Breathe.

Our only real hope... unfortunately relies on bevo....they get smart and realize that going west doesnt do them any good...eat a little crow and hold the current conference together at 9 (minus aggie). Add BYU, TCU and Houston to get to 12. Bevo eats more crow and begs aggie to stay gets you to 13, then add another maybe Boise (byu travel partner) or GULP...SMU and you have solidifed a semi regional group at 14 and get close super conference status. Longshot yes but where can we possibly go?

Texas will never add us to the Big 12. Period. They would chose BYU, Louisville, Cincinnati, Air Force and South Florida over us.

Brian B - Texas may lose their leverage if OU's demands are met...

Why does Texas hate us so much?
