Frog Alumni Camp Report

Spitpurple has done a good job of keeping you up to date, via the morning dump, about some of the goings-on with former Frogs in NFL camps. By now, you are probably all aware of the good things being said about Andy Dalton in Cincinnati and Jeremy Kerley in New York, and the news of Curtis Clay reportedly signing with the Cowboys was certainly great to hear, too. Here's some other stuff I've been able to gather:

-Daryl Washington has a firm grip on his starting job at WILB for the Cardinals, but the other three spots are still up for grabs.

-The running back depth chart for the Lions is all kinds of topsy-turvy, so Aaron Brown will be looking to make his presence felt in the preseason opener against the Bengals. Rookie Mikel Lashoure and veteran Maurice Morris are both hurt, which would bode well for AB's chances- but the Lions also just signed free agents Jerome Harrison and Mike Bell.

-Bart Johnson, as an undrafted free agent, is most likely battling for a spot on the Bengals' practice squad. But he's already filled the role of informant about all things Andy Dalton for the Cincinnati media. Hopefully Dalton will hook Bart up with a few throws his way in their exhibition opener tomorrow night against Detroit.

-Nic Richmond, who was on the San Diego practice squad last year, is having a strong camp. According to one Chargers blog, he is battling for a spot on the second-team offensive line this year.

Frog-on-Frog violence in Colts' camp

-A revamped offensive line is a big concern for the Colts heading into their preseason schedule, so look for Jake Kirkpatrick and Michael Toudouze to play a lot against St. Louis on Saturday as they attempt to be part of the future in Indy.

-Also looking to make his mark in the Colts' preseason opener will be Jerry Hughes, who Indianapolis coach Jim Caldwell says "is really coming along" after a lackluster rookie season.

-Rafael Priest, now playing safety in Atlanta, is apparently "lighting it up" in Falcons' camp and is expected to at least be kept on as part of the practice squad.

-According to the Kilgore News Herald, Wayne Daniels has still not signed with an NFL, despite it being reported a few weeks ago that he had signed with the Jets. But they are saying he still has options out there and is looking to sign on with an NFL team soon.
