Former Horned Frog Matt Carpenter was one of the big stories coming out of the St. Louis Cardinals' spring training camp, where he nearly won a spot on the big-league squad before ultimately being assigned to Triple-A Memphis. A little more than a month into the 2011 season, the Cards are hoping that they can hold off the Brewers and Reds in the NL Central despite inconsistent play at third base while Carpenter continues to hit (and almost as importantly- draw walks) at AAA. Roger Hensley of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch recently wondered- along with some other Cardinals' experts- why not give Carpenter a shot by calling him up?
