Suddenly, the TCU Rangers don't look quite so gay, do they?
For the first time since March 20th, the Frogs will hit the road tonight as they head straight up I-35 to take on Oklahoma in Norman. The Sooners have definitely had the Frogs' number over the past few seasons, winning six consecutive dating back to 2007, so TCU will be looking to end the skid much the way teams like Dallas Baptist and UT-Arlington were able to do against them.
Erik Miller takes the mound for the Frogs tonight for his third outing as a starter, and you've got to hope it goes more like the second than the first. Last week against UT Pan-Am, Miller allowed just seven total baserunners in seven scoreless innings to earn his first win of the season. Two weeks ago against Stephen F. Austin, however, he lasted just two innings and gave up three earned runs, setting the tone for the Frogs' loss to the Lumberjacks. He'll be facing a Sooner lineup that is hitting an impressive .329 as a team, led by Steve Buechele's son Garrett who's hitting .406 with 7 HR and 41 RBI. On the mound for Oklahoma will be Jordan John, a 6'3" lefty redshirt freshman from Corpus. He's 2-0 this season with a 2.79 ERA in three starts and nine overall appearances.
Any game against a Big 12 team will always be big for TCU, but as the guys at HornedFrogSports.com explain, the Frogs' RPI situation is not looking good right now, so they really need this one tonight to improve their chances of playing some home games in the postseason.
