Will Carpenter get 'the call' this spring?

One of the players generating the most buzz in the St. Louis Cardinals' spring training camp is former TCU third baseman Matt Carpenter. By employing the same consistent hitting that he showed in his time as a Frog, Carpenter has risen through the Redbirds' system and earned a non-roster invite to their Major League spring training this year. He's been impressive so far, leading some to wonder if he'll beat the odds and make the Cards' opening day roster.

David Peterson of, who knows his baseball way better than I, has stolen my idea by posting an update on all of the former Frogs who are vying to play big-league ball this year. I would be bitter about him beating me to the punch on this, but we'll leave that kind of childish and petty behavior to another TCU-related site...
