Yesterday, Sir Wesley Willis claimed that TCU's losing streak would end in Laramie today when the two cellar-dwelling teams in the Mountain West faced off against eachother. If you didn't already know it, now you do- Sir Wesley is a dirty liar: TCU dropped their 8th straight game, 77-67, against Wyoming this afternoon.
All kidding aside, being a TCU basketball fan right now (and for a number of years, if we're being honest) feels a bit like being Randy Quaid in Major League. The eight straight losses are part of a stretch in which the Frogs have lost twelve of thirteen dating back to December 30th. Of those twelve losses, eight of them have been by ten or more points.
You could chalk a lot of this up to the dismissal of two of the team's best players, but isn't there something to be said for eliminating those distractions? The Frogs were able to hang with the #6 team in the country on the road a week ago, so it's confusing that they'd turn around and lose by ten to a team that they beat by 18 to earn their only victory of 2011 back on January 12th.
With home games looming against an NCAA bubble team (CSU) and a potential National Player of the Year winner (BYU's Jimmer Fredette), this streak doesn't look like it'll be ending any time soon. The only question is whether or not this team, at 10-16 with five games remaining, can the basketball team reach the football team's win total for the year?
