Meet the Future Frogs: Jamie Byrd

First, GP raided the Big 12, stealing recruits from Tech and OU. Then he took Carter Wall from SMU. If only he could steal one from Boise State...oh wait, he just did! Jamie Byrd, a defensive back from Dade City, Florida's Pasco High School, was committed to the Broncos before deciding that a future at TCU was brighter than the blinding glare coming off that blue turf.

Before his original pledge to Boise, Byrd also had offers from Big 12 and Big Ten schools. Like most TCU recruits, he plays a variety of positions- running the ball, catching the ball, returning kicks and punts while specializing at safety. He was an All-County selection at that position by the Tampa Tribune. He's not huge- 6'0", 180lbs- but check out his abilities as a head-hunter:

Being from the Tampa area, I'll bet TCU's move to the Big East was a plus for Byrd, especially over Boise. There will be those TCU/USF games every other year right near his home town...
