TCU's first three commitments of July addressed areas of need all over the field: Travoskey Garrett in the defensive backfield, Brady Foltz on the offensive line and Austin Terry at either defensive end or linebacker. On July 27th, the Frogs addressed the future of their special teams when they received the commitment of Argyle kicker Chad Hedlund.
Hedlund, who also played quarterback for the Eagles, was the 1st Team 3A All-State kicker as both a junior and a senior. He's got a strong leg, with a career long field goal of 53 yards and getting touchbacks on his kickoffs with regularity. ESPN calls him "clutch" and makes several references in their evaluation of Hedlund to his ability to step up in pressure-packed situations.
At Argyle, Hedlund was a teammate of current TCU defensive tackle David Johnson- perhaps the Frogs have found a new talent pipeline in Denton County? The player snapping for Hedlund's field goals through his junior year at Argyle was Blake Dunham, who you P1's will recognize as the middle son of Jub-Jub himself.
Here are Hedlund's highlights:
