Utah vs. Boise tonight in Vegas

The 2010-2011 bowl season has been kind to current & future conference mates of TCU's, as BYU rolled UTEP, 52-24 in the New Mexico Bowl, and last night future Big East foe Louisville beat Southern Miss 31-28 in the Beef O Brady's Bowl. Tonight, though, the undefeated streak will end as current MWC member Utah takes on future MWC member Boise State in the Las Vegas Bowl.

This match-up, while certainly intriguing, also causes a bit of a dilemna. Should we, as TCU fans, be cheering for Utah or Boise State? On one hand, the road win in Salt Lake represents TCU's best win, and even though strength of schedule doesn't really matter now- wouldn't you like to see the Utes gain back some of the respect they lost after losing to Notre Dame? Also, we've been cheering against the Broncos all year, so why stop now?

On the other hand, Utah was the first team to leave the Mountain West. Sure, I don't hate the Utes for leaving like I do BYU, who did so in a childish & selfish way, and it did lead to the Frogs being invited to join the Big East, so perhaps they are forgiven. But still, the MWC could've been something special. And as briefly as it might be, Boise will be in the conference with TCU next year so a bowl win in 2010 will help their initial ranking for 2011.

I'm not really sure who I'll be rooting for, but I know I'll be watching this game somewhere tonight. Let me know who you'll be pulling for in the comments section.

I'm rooting for Utah.

I don't know what it is about the Broncos that rubs me the wrong way.

They are like that overly enthusiastic kid that was always on your sports team, that was so positive after losing the biggest game of the year and all you wanted to do was be pissed off and bury your head in the sand.

I'm pulling for Utah, but close. I actually kind of like the Utes and wish them well in the PAC 10 or whatever, and I want Boise to be exposed as a fraud this season, even though I'm pretty sure they aren't one. It'd be nice to see Rod Gilmore's heart break even more.

Does it really matter? I guess I want to see Utah win, but that wont prove anything. The pundits will come on and say that Boise State wasn't into it and the game was a let down because they should have been in the Rose Bowl, and if it had been under other circumstances Boise would have put at lease 73 points on them. And if Boise wins, even by a point, then they will say how Boise was the best Non-AQ and deserved a BCS bid because they beat Utah in a bowl game while TCU did it 'only' in the regular season, and that this was a statement win.

I guess what I am really saying is that I hate both these teams and I wouldn't mind if this Winter Solstice lunar eclipse thing caused the stadium with both teams to fall into the 7th ring of hell right at kick off. Along with Rid Gilmore.

Go Frogs.

Tough call.

I'll likely be watching from Buffalo Bros, or, if I'm too lazy, from my couch at home.

I think I'll have to go with Utah. I hate them, but embarrassing them the past two years makes me hate them a little less.

Broncos, but solely for gambling reasons

My first inclination is to pull for Utah because we've destroyed them the last two years, and they're in the MWC right now. And it would be nice to see Boise trip up again so those idiots at ESPN will have to cram it.

However, for the sake of my (soon to be) marriage, I'll have to go for the Fightin' Smurfs. I can get back to hating them after the game is over.

I see the Broncos winning but not by a larger margin than TCU's victory

47-7 > 26-3

And good job on that fake punt. Douche bags.
