Actual, tangible Big East news

There's been a lot of speculation, but never any actual NEWS until now: The Big East has decided to expand to 10 for football, up from the current 8.

No official word yet on WHO those two new schools might be, but some of you out there may have connections better than I out in the grapevine that might know a little better than the current speculation which points squarely at TCU and either Villanova, Houston, Central Florida, Memphis, Temple or East Carolina.

This is potentially very exciting news, but MAN our players really do not need a distraction like this going into the Utah game!

Did Orrin Hatch force this meeting this week to distract our guys?

well. hmmm. someone convince me that this is the right thing to do...

cuz...damn.

the big east?

also, i listened to xm college football last night driving back from game 5 (terrible game). mike leach was on there. wow. he is the most terrible commentator. ever. made. please go back to coaching.

though he did have a few good things to say about TCU after watching the UNLV game. very fundamentally sound, never miss a tackle, AD is a grinder, and he was impressed by the linemen the most (fast first step, team tackling at the ball every play).

I sure wouldn't mind going to the DMC to watch Syracuse, Pitt, UConn, etc. every week in the winter

the espn article said that we wouldn't be included in basketball and olympic sports. would have to find another conference for that.

Hmmmm... wonder if the Big12 would be interested in a non-football member.

They should just add TCU full member and Boise football only member. I bet they would go for that.

If the Big East wants football-only members...they're not going to find 2 schools that are going to raise the football profile of the league. They need TCU's football program, and they'll come to realize that access to the DFW market makes sense across all sports.

As for if it's the right move for us...it clearly is. BCS access and way more TV & bowl money is available in the Big East, and we're just as much a geographic misfit in the MWC as we would be in the Big East.

The non-basketball thing is a concern, but you have to imagine that we aren't moving without it... right?
