Should Pachall be playing more?

Don't worry- I'm not about to turn into the kid from the Skiff who said that the Frogs ought to bench Dalton just because Pachall was a higher-rated recruit coming out of high school. But as David Peterson ponders over at HornedFrogSports.com, should Pachall be playing more now for the sake of the future?

It's a tough decision, for sure. On one hand, you've got to make sure you're winning every game, and keeping Dalton in gives you the best chance of doing that. Also, how do you tell a 5th-year senior QB to sit out a few series?

On the other, I know that the August of 2011 version of Lyle Lanley will have wanted Pachall (or whoever will be the starter next year) to have as much playing time as possible- which includes pass attempts in non-garbage time situations.

the short answer is yes. everyone loves dalton, but everyone loves winning and AD is going bye bye after this year. we need a replacement, and he needs to have some experience. what better time than against CSU?

Yes.

If Andy is really a team guy then he should be fine with it. And it should light a fire under his ass (and our offense)to be aggressive at the beginning of the game, like the Baylor game. Andy needs to get us to +21 points by halfway point in 3rd quarter, then Pachall comes in for the rest of the game. GP can then apologize to opposing teams for our back-up scoring multiple TDs because "we don't do style points". Why can't this be the strategy the next 3 games?

It will help Andy get out of his funk, and it gives Pachall experience

I'm really getting tired of the "we don't run up the score" BULLSHIT!

Obviously you don't want to put up 70 on teams (unless it's gaylor or smew), but consistently scoring 50 plus isn't going to hurt anyone's feelings...it's called beating their ass.

The next time Dalton throws a interception off his back foot, he needs to be benched. I'm a big Dalton supporter, but he's made some HUGE mistakes this year and last (see Fiesta Bowl) that will eventually result in a loss when playing a formidable opponent (see also AFA / Utah).

Colorado State / Wyoming / UNLV / New Mexico...these are all games in which we should be comfortably ahead and put in Pachall.

Rant over.

I might be mistaken. But Hasn't there been some uncertainty as to who will be the starting QB next year? if thats the case then it's hard to sit dalton for a couple series when you arn't sure you are giving your Future starting QB reps.

If Pachall is the man next year, then yes, he needs to be getting some reps this year. Or atleast let him throw in Garbage time.

I know GP doesn't like to run up the score, but it's for the fufture improvement of your program to let your future QB throw.

Nobody named Yogi Gallegos will be the starting QB at TCU.

I'm with Texas Hammer. I am a huge Dalton fan, I think he's great, but he's made some bone-headed errors lately that a 5th-year senior shouldn't be making. Maybe letting Pachall take some reps will light the fire under Andy to settle down and play the way we all know he can, while also giving the future of our progam some experience. I see that as a win-win.

I know Yogi won't be starting for us. But I had heard promising things about Matt Brown. I just remember in training camp there was alot of talk about the battle for the #2 QB and that Brown had been making a case for himself taking that job.

But like I said, I might be mistaken and would be more than happy with Pachall.

I think Pachall should play more, but even more... he should get to freaking THROW when he is.

In mop duty vs TenTech and Baylor, it was pretty much nothing but runs. He hasn't thrown a pass yet. That means Kerley is our 2nd best passer this year so far.

Kerley at 1-1. Pretty good odds!

Dalton sucks. Can we pull his scholarship?
