Thanks but no thanks, Tennessee

From ESPN Dallas:

"TCU coach Gary Patterson has not had any contact with Tennessee officials and has no plans to meet with them, he said Wednesday night through the TCU media relations department."

Read the rest of the story HERE.

Word is Patterson wanted the Tennessee job, but was afraid of what might happen to him if he ever decided to leave Knoxville...I'm kidding of course, chalk up Tennessee (again) on the list of jobs deemed not worthy of leaving Fort Worth for by GP.

I'll say it first: I don't think Nick Papagiorgio is as in the know as he wants to be.

I kid I kid - in all seriousness, perhaps I'm playing devils advocate here and getting on my pessism horse... but I don't necessarily take that as a flat out rejection of Tennessee. No, I don't think GP would leave us under the circumstances having just signed a new contract and pretty much owning Fort Worth and the school... but I don't know if that means he'd slam the door in their face if they did come calling? Color me negative.

Muschamp and Gruden have apparently said no. GP is "off the list" too

Patterson himself still hasn't said a word about the situation. A release through TCU media relations doesn't mean much of anything. They just had to send out something to take care of local press. I still won't see this as a done deal until that job is filled or Gary HIMSELF makes an announcement. It's not like he doesn't have the time to call someone with the Star-Telegram directly for five minutes and give a complete denial.

And did I not CRUSH that Oregon State rumor two solid weeks before anyone reported it?

Pretty sure if he hasn't been contacted by Tennessee then he's not on their short list, i.e. he will not be the next coach at Tennessee. What you should be saying is "I was wrong". Nice try, way to go out on a limb, but save the know nothing know it all comments for the skiff. Maybe next time Ed Werder Jr.

The only good writing in the skiff is the crossword puzzle in the back. But I did hear from multiple people that UT was on campus yesterday. Not sure if it is exactly true, but the sources are pretty close to the program and Patterson.

This little excerpt is also from EspnInsider:
Rucker's sources also said that other UT officials spent part of Wednesday in Fort Worth, presumably talking to TCU coach Gary Patterson. However, Patterson denied meeting with Vols officials.

At this time, I'm not sure what to believe.

All the talk in Knoxville is that if staffing issues can be resolved than Cutcliffe is the man, if not it'll be Kippy Brown. Not stating any of that as fact, that is just the buzz in Knox Vegas.
