I'm gonna take a short time-out from our pre-football delerium (38 Days!!! Holy Shit!!!!) to take a look at the TCU Basketball schedule, which was released yesterday.
As the Frogs look to improved on their 14-17 record of a year ago, at least sixteen games will be televised. Unfortunately, 13 of those are on the mtn. The other three are on CBS-College, but all three are home games. So unless you've got DirecTV or live in Fort Worth, you probably won't get to watch this team much.
With regards to the Frogs' non-conference schedule, there definitely seems to be the attitude of "let's get some W's" rather than "let's sell some tickets". A home date against the Red Raiders on December 8th and an appearance in the Preaseaon NIT that begins with a road game against Arizona State are easily the highlights of the slate. There are also road games against Nebraska, SMU, Wichita State and Houston. Joining Tech on the home schedule are Louisiana Tech, Rice, Northern Colorado, UT-Pan American, St. Gregory's and Mid-American Christian. If you're thinking "I haven't even heard of some of those schools," you're not alone.
In conference, of course, the Frogs play everyone twice. If you've got the mtn, you'll be able to watch 15 of the 16 conference games. For you out of towners, there are four MWC home games on Saturdays- Air Force, UNLV, Colorado State and the regular season finale against BYU.
Because of the massive turnover on the roster (again...), I couldn't even begin to analyze the schedule in terms of how the Frogs might fair. If I had to guess, I'd say they'll have a pretty good-looking record heading into conference, but making any significant progress is going to be tough in a competetive league like the MWC.
