Andy Staples, a college football writer for SI.com, has released his post-spring Top 25 for the coming football season and he has the Frogs at #11. Maybe that's to make up for the oversight of leaving Jerry Hughes off of their initial 2010 mock draft, or maybe it's just a testament to the caliber of program that GP & company have built over on Stadium Drive. In years past, one of the major obstacles to attaining the goal of a BCS Bowl was the preseason ranking. To climb from being unranked at the beginning of the year and playing in a disrespected league like the MWC to being ranked high enough for BCS consideration was a tall task. Not only did you need to win all of your games on the field, but you needed to win in the cout of popular opinion- easier said than done when you consider the big conference bias and stubborness of most poll-voters. But with TCU at 11, Utah at 19 and BYU among the teams just outside the Top 25, it looks as though the Mountain West may finally be getting it's due respect.
All of this praise does come with a grain of salt, though- Staples has Notre Dame ranked 25th...
