Game Awards - TCU v. SDSU

Is this really happening? Somebody please pinch me. #4 in the country, College Gameday not once but twice doing a TCU game including a trip to little old Fort Worth? I will have to admit I really thought SDSU was a trap game and I was very nervous that we would come out flat looking ahead to Utah, but I was wrong. Obviously I underestimated GP's motivational skills. This edition will be short because all focus needs to now be on Saturday.

Defensive Player of the Game

Our linebackers once again stepped it up in this one. Tank and DWash had a combined 15 tackles and held yet another to team to less than 100 yards rushing. All that being said I think Greg McCoy really came into his own stepping in for Priest. He had 4 tackles, one pass break up and a great pick on a badly under thrown ball.

Offensive Player of the Game

Is there any thing Andy Dalton can't do? He again took over a game with two passing TDs and two rushing, and probably could have added two more if he really wanted to. I just can't belive that he is not a finalist for the Davey Obrien. That is a slap in the face of greatness.

Special Teams Player of the Game

Ross Evans looked pretty good coming into the biggest game he has ever played. Nailing a short one from 25 and then a bomb from 48. His confidence looks good.

Play of the Game

Dalton's TD run from 13 might not have been the most exciting play of the game, but it was the play of the game. He found the hole on the right and took it right in, and then pointed to his wrist recieving a flag in the process. It took a while before we found out what he was pointing to, but turns out it was a bracelet honoring his old QB coach's granddaughter who is fighting cancer. What a class act. And to reiterate the announcers, what has college football become when you get a flag just for pointing to your wrist.

Super Fan of the Game

WWHD is on one of the great quests of all time. He has made it to every Frog game this season, even if that means he has to go at it all by himself (which he did this weekend at SDSU). I have to rank this quest right up there with Columbus crossing the Atlantic, Lewis and Clark traveling the US from the Pacific coast and back, and Sir Edmund Hillary climbing Mount Everest.

I will leave you with this new video on the Nike Pro Combat uniform:

25% lighter pads = 25% faster players.

It's common mathematics.
