Final thoughts on the San Diego State game

- If you needed any more confirmation that the new offensive coordinators have been an upgrade, the two long touchdown throws to Ryan Christian should've provided that for you. How in the world were we ever using that guy as a tailback? He is finally being put in position to maximize his contribution to the team.

-How silly does that ref feel for throwing that unsportsmanlike flag on Dalton? After his 1st rushing touchdown, Dalton pointed to a blue wristband that he was wearing, prompting the 15-yard penalty. Turns out, Dalton was wearing the wristband to show support for Dick Winder, the former TCU Quarterbacks coach who's granddaughter has been diagnosed with leukemia.

-Speaking of Dalton, how confident does he look nowadays? He might not have the same numbers as some of the more well-known quarterbacks in the country, but real quick- make a list of quarterbacks that you'd rather have than him. It's pretty short, isn't it?

-Can anyone stop the Frogs' Three-Headed Monster at tailback? Turner, Tucker & Wesley combined for 217 yards and 3 TDs on 34 carries Saturday. With Wesley & Tucker being freshmen and Waymon James and Aundre Dean (and maaaybe Dwight Smith?) ready to join the fold next season, look for the Frogs to use fresh running backs to wear down their opponents for years to come.

-I'm not usually one to complain about Versus, but did anyone else notice that when they came back for the 2nd half, the score graphic said "UNLV 31, TCU 6" ? That's, uh, that's pretty poor.

-Redshirt freshman linebacker Greg Burks had a tremendous hit on kickoff coverage. Burks has been somewhat of a forgotten man at LB since Tanner Brock and Kenny Cain appear to have passed him on the depth chart, but that hit has to remind you that he's still a hell of a player and just how deep the Frogs are at LB.

-Hearing that junior safety Colin Jones didn't make the trip to San Diego because he re-aggravated the hamstring that kept him out earlier in the year made me a little worried. Then his fill-in, fellow junior Tyler Lutrell, made one of the more impressive interceptions I've seen in quite some time.

Here are the highlights:
