Two Frogs Drafted

Matt Vern went in the 13th to the Padres and Matt Carpenter followed later in the 13th to the Cardinals. They are the 19th and 20th players drafted during the Schlossnagle era. It is also worth noting that junior catcher Brian Holaday has not yet been drafted meaning he will likely be back next year.

Vern is probably already a better hitter than anyone on the Cardinals not named Pujols.

I agree Lyle. Only problem I foresee there is that they play the same position. I really hope Vern becomes the "player to be named later" in a deal to a team who needs a first baseman, or an AL team. He deserves it and had a great season for us. I think Carpenter has the potential to make it to the bigs too. The guy works hard and showed great leadership all year. I wish the best for them both.

Vern went to the Padres. Pujols play for the Cardinals.

Good point Buck. Then replace everything Lyle and I said above with the name Adrian Gonzalez and it still fits.
