After impatiently waiting while every other school in the country announced their upcoming football schedules, the powers that be at TCU have FINALLY come through for us. The most beautiful thing you'll notice? NO THURSDAY GAMES!!! EVERY SINGLE GAME IS ON A SATURDAY!!! YEESS!!!! Utah on Saturday evening? F and Yes. Home game on Halloween? F and Yes. All games but one televised (assuming the Clemson and UVA games get picked up)? F and Yes. There are not many more blessings that the schedule gods could bestow upon us...

...EXCEPT, as no good deed goes unpunished, and, after consulting with my colleague lyle lanley, there are three glaring issues with said schedule.

First off, if you'll notice, we have ZERO bye weeks. Correction, we have one bye week, and it's the first week of the season. WTF, mate? That's absolutely brutal and will be tough to handle come the end of the season. Let's just pray that injuries are kept to a minimum. This is a huge bummer because while everyone is enjoying their team playing on the opening weekend of the season, we'll be at home twiddling our thumbs. This gaffe is similar to the situation we were in two seasons ago when our bye week was at the end of the season. It's no coincidence that we went 7-5. Let's hope that wasn't a precursor.

Secondly, we have a home game running concurrent with TX/OU weekend. I'm personally fine with this, but unfortunately quite a bit of our fanbase will not be and will be in attendance in Dallas, or at least in town for the festivities. Let's hope the kickoff for TX/OU is in the early morning as it was this season.

Third, home game on Thanksgiving weekend. For the locals this isn't a big deal, but for those of us who have to travel to be with our families, this will likely pose an issue, and especially in my case when I will be semi-newly married and splitting family holidays, so whichever family we are with will not be interested in giving up any extra time. Good thing it's on the tele, though. So, combined with the TX/OU situation, there are possibly 2 home games where attendance will be directly impacted because of the scheduling. Let's hope that # finish has a more positive effect than we give it credit for.

Anyway, here is is. Talk about it in the comments.
