I understand that argument but since it was a three-way tie tech and ou have just as solid an argument in that they each also have a win over one of the other first place teams.
Tech is out of the picture because they got embarrassed by OU and then almost got beat by Baylor. The argument comes down to TX/OU and the media is so caught up in style points and the "what have you done for me lately" mind set, that beating a team head to head on a neutral field suddenly becomes insignificant.

keeping it close and ultimately losing to tech is what got them in this situation. they did it themselves. Especially when OU showed the country that all you have to do against tech is play good defense.

Big 12 has already said they are changing their tiebreaker format next season because the one they have is seriously flawed. Next season it will be the same as the SEC and ACC where if 2 teams are within 5 spots of each other in the BCS then it comes down to head to head. Seems to be the most logical way to settle things to me.
I agree. On another note. Can we please have every conference split into two divisions and then play a championship game? I would just love to get a second crack at the utes.
I agree that tech is out of it, but that is based on the what have you done for me lately element with which you disagree. Technically they have just as much right as tx or ou, Just to be clear, buy no means am I arguing for tech just playing devils advocate tx and ou are clearly the better teams. They should just say screw mizzou and let tx and ou go at it again.

it's an argument about the BCS, which is what the post was about. Unfortunately, or fortunately for some of you, Texas is the team that got screwed. Thus the above discussion. This is a college football blog, so I thinks it's relevant to talk about how badly college football needs a change. Quit acting like you aren't from Austin and you've never cheered for the Longhorns. I have seen you at Texas games, poser.
Well the deciding factor is based on UT playing nobody out of conference...On top of Oklahoma beating all conference opponents, except UT, they also decidely beat TCU and Cinncinati in their OOC games...Maybe UT should get off their high horse and come play TCU at AGC and quit scheduling a bunch of high school teams for OOC games..I think Patterson and his frogs would agree so UT fans can suck it in my opinion
I'm sure OU wasn't counting on Cincinatti being a BCS team when they scheduled them, just like Texas couldn't predict Arkansas sucking ass either. And if you are gonna comment on playing high school teams, OU beat Chatanooga who is an FCS team and 0-12 Washington. I agree it's bullshit that Texas wont come play here, but last I checked OU wont come here either. Do some research.
indeed, i have been to longhorn games, have season tickets, and even have baby pictures sporting burnt orange. However, I did go to TCU and therefore the frogs are my college football team of choice. The comments were not personal (as yours were); i was merely pointing out that this is a blog dedicated to TCU sports, particularly football (correct me if that is wrong). I figured i would see more talk about our team (read: TCU), their gain in ranking and their potential bowls. I do realize that this is just one post out of many and enjoy the having activity on Spitblood.
Texas controlled their own destiny. Their loss to an inferior tech team put them in this position. I am also surprised more complaints aren't directed towards the Big 12's tie-breaker, which is really the culprit of this mess. I would venture to say that since the BCS's inception there have been problems with computer rankings vs. common sense - this is nothing new.
regardless of what Oklahoma expected TCU and Ciny to be ranked when they scheduled them, both teams actually ended up being ranked top 15 teams this year...at the end of the day, all that matters is the actuall ranking of teams played, not what they were expected to be ranked...use common sense kerley and quit having a hard on for UT..this is a tcu board for christ sake...my only reason for supporting OU is based on the fact they beat us, and the better they look, the better TCU looks
UT can't have it both ways, they can't accept the legitimacy of the polls to take Tech out of the debate entirely, but then complain about the legitimacy of the polls when they are jumped by OU. Tech and UT are both 11-1, Tech wins head to head, guess who's guaranteed a BCS game this year. I'm not arguing for one team over another, it's pointless, they are all deserving. Bottom line is the system is screwing everyone (except OU).
4 other interesting things from this wk:
1) With MO losing, that definitely hurts UT's strength of schedule. There has to have been considerable weight given to OOC schedule, which as SSHF points out, wins against Cincy and TCU gives OU a huge edge. I'm not going to say TCU single handedly went out of its way to throw the OU game in order to crush the Longhorn's post season hopes and dreams (although I jst did), but it's very possible that we were a BIG factor in OU getting the nod. GP=Puppetmaster??
2) The AP Poll has lost any sort of legitimacy or relevance. How can OU get jumped by UT in the poll this wk? UT beat a bottom dwelling unranked TERRIBLE ATM team at home this week. OU beat #12 OSU on the road. Not saying UT shouldn't be ahead the week before and this week too, but how can you respectably put out something like this? Basically you either think fans are too stupid to notice or you are too stupid to know what you're voting on. Oh yeah, then there's the more likely reason that you got 'influenced' to change your vote. Talk about the stench of oil-for-food-type corruption. Good thing the AP isn't included in the BCS, but it is a widely respected poll. The voters who 'changed their minds' should be investigated. Obama needs to Patriot Act these biotches' bank accounts.
3) 33.3333333333% of the BCS's Top 12 teams are from non-BCS conferences. Of those, only 1 will go to a BCS game, meanwhile teams ranked well below them will fill BCS slots. Do I even live in America?
4) If Baylor would've beat TTU, we'd be Top 10. Top 10, and unless the Boise game comes through, STILL stuck playing some no name BS team we'll kill by 50.
FYI, Randy Galloway just said that TCU could have won both the Big East and ACC.
The thing I don't understand is why we're arguing about this? Who gives a shit? Oh boo hoo, Texas, you lost out on the Big 12 bid.. guess what your consolation is? A BCS bowl. Why aren't we talking about the Frogs and how the system fucks us as much as anyone (although not has much as it fucks Boise)... we give up one 80 yard drive that takes us from New Orleans to the bad San Diego Bowl. I wouldn't call this " prominently featured". TCU has 2 losses period. We didn't get screwed by any stretch of the imagination. We lost the game we had to win, thats all there is to it. San Diego here we come. We have no one to blame but ourselves.

OU is the same team as they were when Texas played them. High powered offense, lack luster defense, and terrible special teams. To say that OU would murder TX is downright stupid.
On a better note, I believe that WWHD's drunken, proposed idea of a playoff might be suggested on the WBAP morning news show tomorrow at 7:55am. Listen in and see what they say. Just maybe Jerry will be listening.
On a totally non-Big 12 related note, has anyone checked the Bowl Pool that was set up? It has us playing Tulsa in our bowl game. What happened to Oregon or a possible SEC school? Did I miss something?
Oh and I'm a The Ohio State University fan but you don't see me jibber-jabberin about them on this site, so I'm with Sir Wesley that we need to keep it TCU related (with maybe a few hot chicks thrown in for good measure)
Ignore the matchups that show up right now. They will all change after this weekend, when the bowl selection committee makes their decisions.
Just for the record, I hate UT, but I also don't care for OU, Tech, A&M or anyone in the Big 12. So, don't blame this on my hate mongering for UT because I have the same disdain for all of those schools. And the whole "we lost two games, we did it to ourselves" argument is the exact same thing as "UT lost to TTU, they brought it on themselves." If Mack taught white boys on that team not named Shipley to catch easy balls, there'd be no argument. My whole thing is, this is a TCU blog. If it's going to be a college football blog, then that's one thing, but it really isn't. The only times I mention other teams is when it relates directly to us, such as how it will effect our rankings. I just think that's how it should be. Don't get your butt hurt because there is ONE comment section dedicated to discussing the biggest shake up in BCS history, that could potentially lead to serious consideration for a playoff system, which would in turn affect all of college football, including our beloved Horned Frogs.
Even Mack Brown and Obama don't have the influence to rally a playoff system, especially when ESPN just dropped 500 million against it.

If we're going to talk about BCS injustice, why not talk about how us and Boise are both getting left out because of an Ohio State team who got owned by an insanely average USC team and were nearly shut out at home by a Penn State team who lost to Iowa of all people? UT isn't the only team getting screwed by the system, but you'd never know that by some of these comments. I always thought Tech fans were the worst, but you don't hear them shouting from the mountaintops even though they were equally screwed by the system.
Tech-nically, they got screwed. However, as Wilbon put it, "Texas Tech was humiliated by Oklahoma, leaving Tech out of the equation, most reasonable and unaffiliated folks would agree". Tech fans know they had a dream smoke in mirrors season and don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as OU and TX when debating the South winner.
Well let's not get so delusional as to start using Michael Wilbon as a source for our arguments now. Him and Kornheiser are like the gonorreah and chlamydia of sports personalities.
The solution to our problems:
8 Team Playoff:
First round at the top four home sites, then the remaining three games at BCS venues (get rid of Fiesta) with alternating championship sites (Orlando, New Orleans, Pasadena) each year. I guess we can let the BCS decide the top eight?

In a way, if it weren't for TCU, Oklahoma's out of conference schedule would never have been a factor... so it's almost like the Frogs hate UT.
I was listening to Galloway and Company yesterday afternoon, and Brian Estridge (voice of the frogs for those who dont know) said that after OU beat OSU, he got a text from someone he knows in the OU program which just said "Thank You". Meaning thanks to TCU having a great season, otherwise OU would not have even had a chance. Great pub for the Frogs!
Let's get G Pa to call Stoops and see if we can't get a part of the Crystal football. If they pull it off against Florida maybe they can give us the front tip and the back tip to Cincinatti. Or at least a thank you note.
Can I just say that outside of GPa, Bumpas, and Danny Morrison (depending on if he pays GPa what he deserves) the one person who I never want to see leave the Frogs is Estridge. He is great in the booth (along with Denton), and he reps TCU at any chance.
